How to focus while doing homework/schoolwork?

People who have a hard time staying focused on a single project sometimes need to have several projects going on at the same time.

Sitting at the kitchen table banging your head trying to get your homework done is not necessarily the best distraction.

Having the stereo going, or the TV, or in some cases both.  

Doing several projects at the same time, especially if you have time constraints.  For instance you need to finish your homework by 6pm, so you cook dinner ready by 6pm, unload the dishwasher, and tidy the kitchen, while doing homework.

You will have little time to be distracted.  You will have little time to do anything, so you will naturally optimize what you do.

It'll sound crazy, but have some background noise. I CANNOT concentrate on my homework or something similar without some light TV noise or music playing, I just can't concentrate without it.
