  1. formatting is easy it's what the operating system is if it's xp it can reformat and reparation your harddrive during instalation

  2. 1. Make sure you have your motherboard CD with you as sometime it would require your motherboard drivers to be installed.

    2. Please note below mentioned process will format your all the drives so take the backup of your important data on a CD or flash drive.

    3. You would require CDs of all the softwares which were installed on your system as they would be lost.

If you have a windows XP bootable CD.

Then start your computer and enter setup to check if your CD drive is the first boot drive. If yes then insert XP CD in CD ROM and restart or if not then change the First Boot Device to CD ROM and press F10 to save and exit setup.

Then You will get bluw screens and messages flashing at the bottom of the screen.

Press F8 when it asks to agree.

Press Enter where it asks to install or repair.

It will list all the partitions on the screen and select all the partitions one by one and press "L" on keyboard to delete partition. (If you want to format your harddrive completely.)

When you are through with the deletion you will see only "C:" drive in the list and then press "C" to create partitions.

Once you are done with the partition creation, select "C" and press enter to install CD.

  3. Before formatting make sure that you have backed up your data. Failure to save your work may result in lost of data

(Make sure that you have device drivers CD available, if not download device drivers for your hardware like Video Drivers for display, modem drivers, network card drivers, wireless card drivers etc. Because you system may not function properly if you do not install correct drivers)

    Follow step 1-2

Insert Boot able Operating System CD and follow instructions and when asked for formatting option choose that one

  4. Before you format your PC:

    1.  Make sure you have back up of files, because everything in that drive will be gone once you format it.

    2.  Prepare all the installers needed, motherboard installer and other applications.  Go to your programs and scan through each program to make sure you can still install them.

    To format your PC:

    1.  Restart your computer while the windows installer is in the cddrive

    2.  Your computer will prompt you if you want to boot from the cd, hit any key

    3.  Installation will now check your configuration, just wait and your computer will ask you series of questions, this questions are easy like do you want to delete partition, format what drive, do you want to repair or install a fresh copy, just follow the instructions and soon the computer will format your chosen drive and it will start copying files.
