  1. First you create the backup of the installed Vista OS pre-installed on your laptop. Once you've made a DVD with Vista on it, save all you files etc on a different hard drive or on DVDs. Now you can restart your computer, press F8 or F5 depending on your BIOS manufacturer, some even require you to press the Delete key. Now you will be in BIOS setup, set up your DVD as the first boot device, and save the BIOS settings. Now restart your computer, keep the Windows XP (SP2) CD/DVD handy and insert it in the drive. Press any key to boot from CD. The next steps will be very easy and the Setup will itself prompt you to do certain things. It will provide instructions and you should be able to handle it from there.

I myself had a Vista pre-installed laptop, but XP is certainly cooler than Vista. My desktop had XP and I had been using XP since about 5 years and I was familiar with XP. I have been running XP now on my laptop for more than 6 months.

  2. You will need to have a full copy of windows xp (not an upgrade version) put this cd into your laptop and turn the computer on, it should boot from the cd and you can follow the installation steps. you will need to select to format the hard drive you want to install xp to.

  3. I believe you restart your computer then hit like f5 or escape or something it will ask as you restart your computer at the bottom, try turning it off then botting  it back up.. .then install xp.
