How to format c:drive as

Question

how to format c:drive as it contain vista operating system . i only
have a vista recovery disc which only install back vista to its factory
level. please suggest me the procedure to format c:drive so that i can
install windows xp first then vista.My laptop (hp pavilion dv6500) also
have a recovery partition. can we format the whole computer through command prompt.
