How to gain better strumming patterns...?

I've only been playing guitar for like 8 months. I'm self teaching and I'm catching on pretty well. I've written like fifteen songs. But I'm having trouble with rhythym and strumming patterns. All my strumming patterns are the same. Any tips on how to reach better rhythym or strumming patterns?

try putting variations like change your strumming pattern ex. down down up up down making like down down pause up up down. I suggest if you wanna improve on rhythm try playing along with songs and try to follow the beat of the drums and the bass it could really help you.

There are lots of paying sites that teach this, for a price....but I don't think that's what you want.....so do this : type in this on google ....How to play strumming patterns on the guitar, I'll bet that they have tons of links for you to check out, if they don't have what you want word it differently, like strumming patterns for playing guitar !!!!!!!  good luck !!!!

change your timing.  lose the pic and try finger picking.  Pick up some tab (if you use it) or sheet music from other artists who inspire you.
