i am in the process of soccer tryouts, and so far they are not going so well. when im playing soccer, and i get into my rhythm i can play very well and consistent,..but if im not in my rhythm i dont play nearly as well as i could. for some reason everytime soccer tryouts come along i NEVER find my rhythm. i make stupid mistakes and hassle myself for them, and i always over analyze/over think..instead of just playing. any ideas on how i can be more calm during tryouts and play the best i can without over thinking?

** also, during my tryouts a lot of mental strength is needed. im not the most fit person, but i know if i gained more mental strength i could push myself further and play a little harder. although, i am always one to psych myself out, and say i cant. any ways that i can become more mentally strong so that i can keep pushing myself even when im exhausted?

**p.s. making this team is one thing i want the most right now.

  1. Instead of trying to suppress your anxiety about the tryouts, embrace your fear and the resultant adrenaline rush as a positive reaction.

If you are pumped up about the trials, you will tend to have more energy and stamina.  Just try to channel that extra energy into physical release, rather than a mental funk.
