How to get 10KW power?

Hi:

I am new in the electricity world. But i have searched enough to get some idea about it.

I want to get 10KW power and 220V to run household.

I can easily produce continues 12-24V through car batteries or solar panels.

Next What i need to get this 10KW and 220V?

I means, inverter, generator, transformer or any other thing?

Please guide me step by step, which components i need, from where i can get them etc...

Any help will be highly appreciated.

  1. This is a pretty complex thing... 10,000W is quite a bit of power, pretty close to what many folks get as their full AC home service. If you don't know what you're doing around this kind of thing, you're probably going to electrocute yourself, and at best, you'll wind up wasting money.

Technically speaking, a solar system works like this: the solar cells are wired in series or series/parallel in a panel, so the 0.8V or 1.2V or whatever that a panel can produce shows up as +12V or +24V (typical) on the panel's output. This can be interfaced through a charge controller circuit to the battery array.... a circuit that also performs the switchover when the solar panel goes dark.

The output of all that runs to an inverter, which is a device that makes DC power into AC power. Small versions of these are sold to let you power normal AC devices in a car; a much larger one is found in typical hybrid cars like the Toyota Prius, which run on AC but store electricity as DC in batteries.

You also have to decide if you're hooking up off-grid, or grid tying. Some solar systems hook to the normal power grid, sell power to the grid in the day, and draw from the grid at night, rather than use batteries. If you're entirely off-grid, you need the backup batteries... however, you don't want normal car batteries in use inside without precautions, they need to vent outside.

There are many places that sell inverters:

Your best bet is to hire a company that knows this stuff... they can provide all of the components, correctly wired, and answer any questions you might have.

  2. The average household use of electric power is 1000 watts, 1 kw. so this is a very large house.

To get from 12 or 24 volts to 220 volts 50hz is easy, just buy an inverter of the proper size. A 10kW sized one will set you back about US$1000.

But that doesn't address the numerous batteries you will need, the charge controller for charging the batteries and the many and expensive solar panels to generate the electricity.

Key question is: how long must the batteries supply power if the sun is not shining.

    Pick 24 hours.

Then the batteries need to supply 10kwatts x 24 hrs = 240 kw-hrs. Now a good sealed lead acid battery ($300 each) is good for about 1kw-hr. so you would need 240 of these batteries!!!

And a charge controller, and lots of solar panels to handle the charging.

You need to carefully rethink how much power you need, and for how long!

    .

  3. You can purchase 'off the shelf' hardware to accomplish your purpose.

You set up your battery bank, and purchase a charger/inverter panel to construct the 220 A.C.

    wavefrom power.

You should be cautioned that you will need a lot of

solar panel capacity, battery and inverter to serve

a 10KW. load, and costs will be high.

Your inverter must be sized for peak consumption, not average power.

The service life of your batteries and solar panels

    is limited.

  4. car batteries and solar panels are direct current. if you want to use those you would need a inverter(ac to dc:rectifier). if you want to power your house your best bet is a generator but it would be impracticle because you would be spending so much money on fuel.
