I was born in Seattle, Washington and lived there for 13 years. But then relocated to Sacramento, California. I am now a Junior in High School and I am trying to move back to Washington for college. My question is how long do you have to live in state to get their tuition? Do you have to be living there at that time or can you get tuition for just being born there?

  1. its a year, sometimes two depending on the school.  So you'd have to live in Washington for your entire Senior year (maybe even junior year).  Contact the school for more details about residency requirements.

You can't get residency based on being born  there.  And you cant move there after you graduate from high school and get residency based on that.  If you decide to go to college in Washington without being a resident of the state... plan on paying out-of-state your entire stay at the school.  They won't change it to in-state after you have lived there a year or more.
