Also, if you install operating system v4.5 on your Curve 8310, it comes with a basic version of DataViz's Word to Go, which allows you to open and view Microsoft Word documents. You can open them from main memory or a microSD memory card, so you don't have to e-mail them to yourself.

If you get them emailed, and click on the open attachment icon, they will open as Word, however, you will need to click on the trackball to zoom to view...and also move around the document.
