How to get a 3yr old understand between yes and no?any tips please?

Make it a game or song, they catch on quicker if it's fun. While marching around the house "Can I touch this?....YES" "Can I hold that...NO"  Try and make it visual as well (nodding of head).

show them what is wrong by examples,  and using body language ( shaking head and using hand signals). i know this sounds lame and simple but we have to keep at there level.

Talk to them and don't use the "N" word. try alternatives. For instance if you say NO don't hit. Try  I know you are upset but hitting hurts. Big boys use their words not their fist.Tell mommy what is wrong.

OR

No don't play on the stairs. TRY Honey, stair are for going up and down but not for playing wouldn't you much rather play outside.

EXPLAIN TO YOUR KIDS!! THEY ARE SPONGES AND WILL LEARN BUT YELLING YES AND NO IS AN OPEN ENDED THING WITHOUT EXPLANATION THEY HAVE NO CLUE.

example. NO don;t touch the stove....what a kid thinks is ...WELL WHY NOT ...so then they go touch the stove...well if you would of said mommy is cooking and it is hot and hot can hurt you so please do not touch the stove but you can help me get the spoons for dinner.
