  1. apparently there's only one tv in the house, yea?  remember you're in charge, but you can have time limits for what you want to watch and vice versa.  either that, or go on the computer, there are plenty of sites online that offer tv shows, movies, and what not for free.  my personal fav is hulu.com.  good luck

  2. So you can't win a battle of wills with a 9 yo?? lol....

  3. find something he would rather do then watch tv.  If he knows you want it, he wont give it up.  So offer a better alternative for him.  Or amke a deal, one hour then switch and so on

  4. I don't know...my kids aren't allowed to watch television unless they have earned that privlege and they only get to watch for an hour a day.  However my dad and mom have a rule in their house...Who ever controls the remote controls what is on television." If he has the remote you're SOL.

  5. I would be just happy that he isn't running around acting crazy and he is sitting and watching tv. Plus you can go on the mtv.com website and watch everything they show on tv. full episodes!

  6. Turn that hypnotized box off and play some board game or cards with or something. You guys don't need to ruin yours eyes 24/7.

  7. You dont know how to handle children yet you are a babysitter??????? j/k

What works for me is I will say something like, "Wow, you've been watching tv a lot, once I heard that kids who watch tv too much turn into sets and then their parents send them off to the warehouse where they either get smashed or they get sold to another family. It kinda scares them, and if that doesnt work bring up food, children always love food, speaking of which, its my lunch time! lol good luck!

  8. Offer him an ice cream

  9. He can hear you just fine.  He even comprehends what you are saying.

The reason he is not bending to your will is because the request is stupid.

Turn off the TV and the two of you go outside and play ball for an hour.  When you come back in, tell him its your turn on the TV.  He won't have a problem with it at that point in time.
