How to get a 9 yr old child to respect parents?

His granmother would let him get away with disrespecting every body around and would say every thing the mother id was child abuse how do I help her get over this and teach her son to respect others

You cant really. Hes not your son, you will be lucky if he even listens to you. The parent is the most influencial role model in the childs life. If you want to help straighten out the child, you will have to start with the parent.

such as toys,video games,tv,dont let

him go outside.

Take the grandmother out of the child's life. She has no right to let the child do what he wants.

Children are very hard to understand...Get down to their level and make sure they feel as if they're being respected as well.

To get respect you must give it. Respect him and he'll respect you. You're never too old for a time out and never too old for a swat on the cheek (and it's not abuse unless you leave a mark).
