hi i got a 1995 Z28 (all stock) and im piecing together plans to get it to lay down atleast 310hp at the wheels like its predecessor LS1 Z28's from 1998-2002 but im just gonna mod up my LT1 rather than get an LS1 i was thinking the K&N Cold Air Intake,Cam,Long Tube Headers,True Dual Exaust Syster (full exaust) (no turbo/superchargers or nos) so what you think with those mods i listed heres the stock power 275hp & 325 ft lbs tq probably less horsepower at the wheels

  1. I Got a 1994 Formula Wit 360+ HP 400 tq.

You need a hyper tech programmer to chip the computer, replace the throttle body wit a bigger one, replace the

{Map}  Mass Air Flow  sensor wit a performance Map sensor, install  install bigger fuel injectors, change the ignition like to a MSD wit wires & replace the spark plugs, change the Cat converter wit a Hi flow Cat,

get a cat back exhaust system with headers is even better. With this small list above your Z28 will have closer to the 400HP.

  2. If you are going to go as far as tearing the block down to replace the cam I would recommend some additional things. First, with the camshaft, go with an Isky Camshaft (www.iskycams.com). They add around 50HP right off the bat.

If you are thinking of replacing the pistons, I would recommend going with a slightly higher bore of 30 or 40. That will definitely get you some additional power. Make sure to make the rings better than stock, say with some Chrome Molley rings.

Third, replace the exhaust with a true, dual exhaust with 3 inch straight pipes with Edelbrock Mufflers. That alone will probably give you another 30Hp or so. Adding the cold air intake will also give you another 20-40HP.

Also, I wouldn't worry about what the horsepower is at the rear wheels, but rather the torque since that is what pulls you down the road anyway. The 350 is a powerhorse of an engine and there are many things you can do to them, depending on what you want to spend.

  3. If you want to do it right then tuned and ported heads, stroke it, dual exhaust with the x pattern in the under body with performance mufflers (magnaflo, flowmaster, ect.) take your catalytic converter off after emissions, you can do better than K&N, Run it with E3 spark plugs and a MSD wire set, and get a new coil that can handle that set up.  Long tube headers are more for older cars, yours needs back pressure or it will feel sluggish, ma be 1 1/2" rounded headers that dump into a 2 1/2" outlet, check out jegs magazine, they got great stuff.

  4. I would go with a head and cam package,I would have it set up so the cam really doesn't kick in untill 3000 rpm.

  5. You should get that much horsepower easily with just an intake, exhaust, and cams.  Go surf some camaro/LT1 boards and find people who have posted up dyno charts, copy their setups.
