Whenever I go to nvars.com, they say that there are no appointments available for 6 weeks.. :( Is there any other way to get a visa appointment in Toronto? I have to get it by December because I will be traveling by then. So I need a Visa ASAP!!! (I'm a Filipino Citizen)

And also, my friend is asking how to get her US passport renewed passport in Toronto. Where does she have to go? And other details please =)

Thanks for all your help guys! It is greatly appreciated! =D

  1. The US consulate is on University between Queen and Dundas on the west side

Try there but other than that no idea

What about calling the MP for your area and asking where to go

Or how about calling the 1800- O - Canada line for information on government services etc

If non of that works out try an imigration lawyer but make sure they have LLP after their name or they are just consultants and your money and time are wasted

  2. If there are no times available for an interview at the Toronto consulate, your best bet is to apply via another consulate in Canada such as Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal. The waiting times especially at the Embassy in Ottawa should be less and Ottawa is usually prompt in scheduling interviews.

For Passport renewal, your friend can mail her passport along with fees and photographs via registered mail (express mail, FedEx,UPS, etc.). She will have to follow the instructions on this page:

    http://www.amcits.com/passport_renewal.a...

  3. Dear Mary,

My name is Gabriel, I work for an immigration firm in Toronto.

It is very hard to do it through NVARS. You basically have to be searching for the appointment all day long. I know it can be very frustrating. There is not much you can do at this point other than keep trying. Unfortunately, that is the case. You can try calling the NVARS call-centre but they charge 1.89 a minute but they may not have much to offer. Calling the consulates may be of no use either. Its very hard just to speak to someone and they might recommend that you call NVARS.

Right now, appointments are being released for the second week of november. If you feel that you can't seem to get an appointment and you are running out of time, give me a call (my phone number is (416)962-2623 x224) and I'll see what I can do for you.

We have a video on our website that can help you out. This is the link: http://www.immigroup.com/us_visa.php

As for you friend who has a US passport. What she needs to do depends on her situation. Has she lost it, or has it just expired. How old is she? There are different processes certain cases.  Go to http://www.amcits.com and you should find more information on the US passport there. Your friend can also give me a call at the phone number I gave you.

If you want further info, take a look at http://www.immigroup.com

    Best of luck,

    Gabriel.

  4. Not sure what the deal is with nvars.com. According to travel.state.gov, the current wait time for a visa interview inToronto is nothing like 6 weeks. The visa wait time for Toronto shows:

    Visitors Visas: 8 Days

    Student/Exchange Visitors Visas *** (Excludes: A, G, K, and V): 10 Days

All Other Nonimmigrant Visas: 2 Days

Your friend needs to go to the American Citizens Services section in Toronto. According to their website at toronto.usconsulate.gov: American Citizen Services (passports and notarials) are on walk-in, first come, first served basis, 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 noon. Reports of birth are 8:30-11:30 a.m.
