  1. Try doing push up in sets of 3 or 4 a day 10 in each set

when you go to serv try to swing through faster its helps it go further.

  2. practice

  3. Lift weights

    Practice

Serve against a wall on the side of your house from 30 feet back. Make sure it hits the wall above 7.5 feet high on the wall.

  4. Pop the ball instead of trying to swing through.  Make sure the ball is in front of you at all times, trying to hit a ball behind your head makes it really difficult.  When you hit the ball don't make any extra movement, just hit the ball hard and stop, like you are hitting a wall.

  5. A practice volleyball, and a wall.  A cheap practice volleyball, because when it's an outside wall, only a cheap volleyball will take such punishment [never use a good indoor volleyball, outside]...  Just hold the ball above your head and spike it - hit it, just as for a spike.  Use a bent elbow that straightens, when you hit the ball very fast, that is your power - which comes with practice.  Start slowly, so that your muscles warm up slowly.  Do not go all out fast right away - because that is not good for your body and muscles.  Add a curling of your wrist upon impact with the ball, this adds spin.  This is crucial to keep the ball spinning in court - and makes it difficult to receive.  A lot of practice against a wall, will develop your power, which comes with coordinating everything, so that you are energy efficient - ie. full transmission of energy to the ball.  It helps if your ball isn't hard, ie. has too much air pressure.  You should be able to press your thumbs about 1/8th inch into the ball.

And there is always the windmill serve.  This is excellent as a second serve - it uses your bodyweight, and normally you can put lots of extra spin to the ball using this technique.

  6. if you got the toss, step and hit routine down, thats good. to make your serve stronger, follow through. swing faster. trust me. i had the same problem because i didn't swing fast enough. swing fast and hard. and make your your hand is facing upwards at an angle.
