  1. Try using a large magnet to see if it will pull out.

    If the box is small enough, you can turn it so the lock faces down and tap it to jar the key loose enough to grab with pliers

    Lastly, dip the end of a paper clip into super glue and carefully try to stick it to the broken end of the key. Then try pulling it out after the glue sets.


  2. Purchase a course tooth scroll saw blade at the hardware or home supply store.

    (1) Cut one end of the blade off so the teeth are at the  end of the blade.

    (2) Place the blade in the keyhole with the cutting edge of the blade toward you. Catch the saw teeth on the broken key and remove the broken key blank. Use care not to use excessive force.

  3. A magnet will not work, keys are usally not made of magnetic metals. Take a boby pin or thin spring steel and grind or file a hook at the end. Then scrap at the teeth part of the keypulling the key back.
