How to get a car design noticed?

Me and a friend have designed a very new car that we would like a car manufacturer to consider manufacturing . What steps should we take?

Automobile companies have their own R&D and design departments. Contacting them would prove fruitless.

Now if you had the money to construct a prototype, and the money to enter a major car show, they might take  notice.

Another route would be to write an article about the design and try to get it published in Popular Mechanics or the like.

If you have a new concept that is patentable, the apply for the patents and or copy writes. Then you can sell them.
