Hi there!

I'm 15, and next semester at school, I'll be taking driver's ed, leading to me soon being able to get my own car. (woo!) Unfortunately, I don't know the best way to go about getting the best I can. I'm looking for a car in the $2,000-$3,500 range (I know they're out there...) but I don't want to get a REALLY bad car. Scratched paint? Fine. Old leather? No problem.... I just want a car that works well. (will last at least 5 or so more years) Do you know the best way I could get something like that?

I'm hoping to get a convertible, if that changes the price a great deal. If possible, nice gas mileage would be a huge plus as well.

  1. 98 Acura CL

    98 Ford Mustang V6

    98 Honda Accord or Civic

    98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder

    98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy

98-00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

you may find a Mustang that needs a new top but they are not cheap.

  2. craigslist is where i would go, and a convertible is alot more for insurance, especially if your young

  3. You can get the best deals at a car auction. I got my first car from one for only $2,800. It had a sunroof and everything. http://www.mycarauctionreview.com has some car auction sites you can go to that have cars for as cheap as $500.

  4. It's possible, but probably only through a private seller. I just went through the same thing a little bit...and that was looking for a car around $5,000.

start looking on autotrader.com. low mileage is the key. i think you will be surprised in what you can find. My first car was a 2000 chevy malibu that had 130,000 miles on it and I paid $3,000. It lasted four years, but it's on it's last leg and has caused me a lot of stress.

Also, sometimes private sellers are better because they allow you to get cheap cars, but dealerships offer warranties, security, and a lot less hassle.

    Good Luck!

  5. Hello i would warn you to be very careful when your looking for cars that cheap. You have to know what your doing just because the car is most likely on its last legs and wont last you 5 yrs like you would like. You should checkout usedcars.com
