  1. gentle reminders times 10

  2. a word that you both agree on that helps him - one of our children is impossible to keep on task - his mother came up with "focus" and when we say that to him, he remembers that's the word his mom uses and he tries - he really tries.  We may have to say it 15 times in one day but the next maybe only 3.  good luck.

  3. Haha. I have and still am trying to get my 8 yr old to stay on task as he's very energetic. Some of these ideas might work for you too - (1) reward system (2) taking away "benefits" or "privileges" (3) discussion / talk (4) Praises and encouragements (5) Compromise (6) Negotiations (7) scolding (8) punishments.

    Hope it helps.

  4. 1) give gifts 2) hard way (use cane or wooden ruler ) 3) scare them wit sumthing horrible will happen if they refuse to study 4) no tv!! 5) make him jealous by giving mur gifts to his brothers or sisters in front of him!! 6) no sweets/dessert!! 7) grouded 8) no friends will be allowed to mix wit him 9) ignore him for the whole day 10) finally, the mother's way (LOVE n xtra sugar in it!!!)

  5. I can't give you 10 but... :-)

I have found that many times when children have a hard time staying on task it is usually because the task doesn't interest them.  Consider that and how you could make it more interesting.

However, in life, there are things we just got to do even if we don't care to...so I have found that having something to look forward to after the task is accomplished is a big help.  Not necessarily a treat/snack/candy but even an activity...you can go outside once your task is accomplished, etc.  You know your child best.

What type of task is causing the problem?  Is there just one type or is it all tasks?  I have found that with reading, using pointers or transparent colored sheets over top of the reading really help.

Provide "breaks".  Some children just need to get up and move.  So planning some breaks may help the child stay on task because they know they will be able to get up and move for a bit.  A timer works well and be consistent about the amount of time the break is and that they must go back to their work.

    Good luck.

  6. There are many adults who have a hard time staying on task. For academics I have had to have some students work at a desk or table away from everyone else to be able to finish or even write their name. If this is a problem to be worked out with a school they should be giving you the help you need.

  7. at school or at home for homework?

I would just talk to him and explain to him when he is at school it is your job to listen and do you lesson. It is your teachers job to come to school to teach the kids. And it my job to help you with your homework and love you.

    this works for me.
