How to get a credit card...?

I need to get a credit card so I can pay off a hospital bill before the end of July. I'll only have to pay $627.17 if I pay the bill off before the end of July but if I don't then i'll have to pay $1,045.00 plus $10 extra every month for interest. How do I obtain a credit card? I applied for one at discover.com and they said they wouldn't be able to accept me at this time. Is it because I have no credit history? (I'm only 18) Or is it because I don't have a job? I have income because I get a check from my mom every month for something she owes me from when I was little (Used to get SS but she took it from me and now has to pay it back). How do I obtain a credit card before the end of July and how long does it take to receive one in the mail?

you should try Capital One. They will usually give people with no credit a card. However with no credit you are not likely to get one with a high enough limit to pay the entire bill off.  If the hospital will not work with you on a payment plan, try getting a loan. Maybe if you have someone co sign you could get a loan with a better interest rate therefore saving some money.

Depending on the card it can take several weeks or so to get a credit card. Usually if you apply online you get a decision within a minute or two, then it will take them a few weeks to send out the card.

If you want to raise cash fast, you should go to your friends that have jobs and ask them to loan you as much as they can, and then go out and get a job and pay them back.

You question isn't clear, are you trying to surf debt to a credit card froma medical bill? What arrangements can you make on the med bill? Was this amount after insurance paid their portion?
