I'm a straight A student in my school...and i did TERRIBLE on my SAT test. I have a book to study but i didnt take it seriously..that's obviously one of my mistakes. The thing is though...I'm really bad at timed testing. So my question is...do you guys have any techniques that can help me. my strongest point is math while the weakest was the reading.

  1. Take those books seriously and I can almost guarantee a better score...

I was just like you and did pretty horrible on my SAT...

Gonna take it a third time soon and hope I do better

    Good luck!

  2. For timing issues, take a lot of practice tests. Not like every day because that will burn you out, but once a week is a pretty good dosage. Once a month is fine too. Just make sure you're comfortable with the test.

I never really figured out how to definitely improve on the reading. A good score just happened sometimes and other times it just didn't. Keep studying your vocab, read a lot of classics, nonfiction essays...just read.

  3. Frankly, I think those books should be banned by colleges because the SAT is the one test that is supposed to measure aptitude and all of the skills learned by studying for it are skills that are only useful for the SAT.  I got a 2170 without any studying on my first try.  I will take it one more time but I will not study or buy a review book for it.  It does not reflect grades in schools; it reflects aptitude and intelligence.  Your scores may improve slightly by studying, but colleges will know everything when evaluating you.  Keep working hard in school and give up on Harvard and Yale unless you have another unique ability.

  4. well i have taken them 3 times already (6th 7th and 8th grade) and i did better every time by taking them already. after you see whats on it, you know what to study in the books, and you can figure out a lot of the higher math, which will make everything on the SAT easier
