My parents have a rental house that a family is living in and they are in the middle of a divorce. The mother & children would like to continue living in the house, but on her income she could not make the rent payment on her own. How would the woman go about getting herself approved for HUD/Section 8 and how would my parents go about getting their property HUD/Section 8 approved?

  1. Just call hud in your area and get the paper work from them. as for the lady living their see if you can also get her approved at the save time. that way she is there and you are putting your house on hud.

  2. Your parents can contact the housing authority to have the house approved.

HOWEVER, they will NOT be paying for this tenant.   She will not be awarded a voucher ahead of other section 8 applicants.

The tenant has to wait her turn, just like everyone else for a voucher.

Most areas have a waiting list of 2-5 years.
