How to get a message off a hotel phone?

the blinking light on the phone in my hotel room is on and i cannot figure out how to get the message. when i called the front desk they didn't know either and it's not in the handbook. can anyone help

Depending on the hotel, there is a voice mail box.. other times the hotel operator will take the message.  Either way, call the hotel operator and tell them that your message light is blinking.. if there is a message or package for you.. if not, they should turn off the light.

the way those lights work, someone calls for you, you do not answer, the call rings back to the consol. The operator takes a message  and then sets the message waiting light. There is no message storage. The message light was turned on by the operator, so the operator has a written message.

call the desk and ask them for the message or why they turned your message waitng light on.
