  1. In this lousy economy I would suspect the dealer would be happy to deliver the bike just to make the sale.

  2. Ask them to deliver it to your house - as a condition for the sale.

    Good Luck...

  3. I was asked once to ride a brand new Harley home for a co-worker in the same situation. What an honor, any one who rides would jump at the chance to do this. Do you know of any riders? If not, I'm sure the dealership can recommend someone. How about someone with a pick up truck, the dealership will help you load and even lend you ramps so that you can unload. Good luck, keep the rubber side down, and happy riding! I suggest you take a riding class. They are a blast and could save your life.

btw... what bike are you getting? just curious.

  4. a friend or family member with a truck? haul it home! always wear a helmet!

  5. I'm sure that the dealership will have a way to get the bike home for you.  Just ask, when you're there.  Good luck finding the 08 ninja 250, they are sold out in most places.  But, looks like a great bike.

  6. The way I see it you are getting it to ride it so why not ride it home.  Sure you may be worried but you will be worried the next and the day after that, sooner or latter you have to ride it, why not take it home.  Halfway home you will be having fun, which is what it is all about anyways, enjoy.

  7. I understand your uneasiness and after not riding for a long time I questioned my ability to ride a larger than before bike in a town I had only ridden in once before. PLUS the fact that I couldn't get drive off insurance on it because I didn't already have a bike insured with my company What I did was borrow a friend's trailer and the dealer helped me load and strap it. I trailered it some 55 miles to my house. I own several acres and most of it is cleared land. I rolled it off the trailer and put on my helmet. I ended up riding it 18 miles around my property and Monday I rode it to work and then by the insurance company. Trailer it and go to a parking lot somewhere to start riding. You need to get used to the bike and the way it responds. Ride a few miles there and then hit the roads. It will be a few miles you'll never regret I promise. Plus it gives you a chance to show off your ride.

  8. All new riders get jittery when it comes to take delivery of their new hearthrob.  Take it easy.  I am sure you have a friend who has been riding a similar motorcycle for sometime now.  He would be the ideal candidate to brief you about the bike and also to ride your way home.

If you cannot arrange this visit, you can request the dealer to arrange a home delivery and if necessary to bill you for it.

  9. just jumping on and riding it home is a terrible idea, if this is you're first street bike then you need to get some experience on the bike in parking lot of side street before jumping into traffic. you'd be amazed at how many people dump brand new bikes in front of the dealership right after  buying it and the dealer will just laugh.

talk to the dealer and try to negotiate delivery as terms of the sale. If that doesnt work have a friend with some experience ride it home for you. If that doesnt work borrow a pickup and strap it down in the back, like someone else said the dealer will help with this

  10. I don't think your question makes any sense, you have to ride it at some point and I fail to see what difference it makes when that point is.

If you get it home on a trailer you still have to ride it a first time.

If you aren't capable of riding it then you shouldn't be buying it.

You only ever gain experience from doing something so get on it and ride it home.....nobody ever said you couldn't take your time over it....it isn't a race you know.
