How to get a night butterfly out of my house?

A night butterfly managed to get into the house two nights ago. Do you know the best way to get him outside without harming him in any way? I really care about animals and insects and I don't want him to die in my house or harm him while trying to get him out. I know it might sound stupid and silly but please help!!

Well, some people would say leave the door open, and wait til he gets out, but that will just attract more bugs or butterflies.

Try, sneaking up on him, but be careful, take a cup and slowly put it over him. Try not to harm him.. I'm the same way with animals.

here's what ya do:

Night butterflies are attracted to light, so turn off all the lights in your place except for one.  It will be drawn to that particular light.  next, get a dixie cup and wait until the insect stops fluttering and then, CATCH EM real fast.  Slowly move the cup and moth over and quickly cover the open end of the cup with your hand.  Now its trapped.  Let it free outside. All done!

Night butterflies attracted to lights, switched off some of your lights and let one lights on. When it comes to the light, get some plastics cups, cover him slowly and then when you caught it let it free to your windows.
