How to get a press card in USA?

In UK, there's the press card authority

and "gatekeepers" that issue press cards to members.

What about USA?

Yeah, all the places I've worked for issue me a press card on their behalf. Just because you have one doesn't mean you can always get where you need to, and if you abuse the power of credentials, you don't just lose the card, you lose your job.

Try the associated press or AP.

If you work for a newspaper why don't you ask them for a press card.  If you aren't a journalist, you don't need one.
