How to get adult cats to like you?

After you adopt a cat and they are still skidish after being with you a month and still hisses!

Be calm and patient.

Don't make direct eye contact/stare at him.  That's really aggressive to cats.  If you watch him then blink slowly and casually - kinda like you're sleepy.  That shows him that you're at ease around him.  Talk softly to him and offer him snacks.  If he won't come up then take a step back after you set down his snacks.  

You can try to play with him too.  Try something like a shoelace, string, or feathers on a stick.  These allow you to play together but still give him some space.

Sometimes it takes awhile but eventually he should warm up to you.  If you don't know his history then maybe he went through something really terrible that made him so shy.  Whatever it is, it's not his fault and he's not trying to be rude to you.  

It will mean so much to you when you do get through to him that you're safe and friendly.  It can be tough but it can be even more rewarding.

Give them time.... U get patience... u cant force someone to like u. To get a cat to trust , u must trust them. If he/she scatches u etc.... dont dont mean it. try to win them over and its gana take more tham a month. it took me 5 months to get a stray cat to stop doing that....Buy kitty snacks have them come to you and caress him/her @ the same time. lil by lil they'll come around.

Try your best to always be calm and quiet around the cat, you need to convince her that you are safe and to be trusted. Also being the provider of the super yummiest treats she's ever found (I find freeze dried chicken is a huge hit in my household) can help. Be patient and give her time and space, cats move at their own rate and forcing her will make her more resistant. Unfortunately some cats will always be skittish and you can only try your best to get her to come around to you.

leave them alone and they will come to you to be pet and  sit on your lap.
