Because I currently do not have an insurance and this baby is completely unplanned. My last job paid $10 an hour and I doubt I can afford normal care (currently, I don't even have a job).

But if I want to keep the baby, where do I start looking for affordable care? I have looked everywhere online and found some sources that says my baby is eligible for some type of medi-care. But I'm unconvinced. How should I proceed?

I went here to study and have F1 visa status, but my fund is dwindling and now I have this unplanned pregnancy. Honestly I still want to continue my higher education, but now everything is falling apart.

If possible, can I get some sort of concrete estimate on the figure? Like, how many percent of prenatal care and birthing cost they will cover? I just need to realistically know if I can do this.

  1. You may be eligible for medi-cal.  If you go into your local county hospital system (different from private) you can receive care and they can help set you up.

  2. Why not just go home and have your child there.  After the child's birth you can apply to come back again with a student visa.

With the F1 visa you are not allowed to work except for the college you are attending.

  3. Try your local planned parent hood. You pay on a sliding scale, and if your income is that low, you may get care for free. plannedparenthood.org I believe.

Also, go to your schools health center, they may have a place to recommend. Don't worry, no one is going to leave you in the dust. Good luck!

  4. Try medi-cal, you should qualify for that. It's for low income women when they are pregnant, and your child will qualify too once he/she is born. Ask your OB about it and they can help you. All your care is free through that, no co-pays.
