How to get all 6 speakers working on a Yamaha RX - V550?

Hey I have a Yamaha RX-V550 and for the past while i have been noticing that one speaker does not project any sound. When I do the speaker check all 6 speaks work but when I watch TV on hd channels or movies on my ps3, which is hooked up it an optical cable, there is never any sound coming from the rear speaker. I looked into it and found out that it is probable because they are in 5.1 dolbe digital but does anyone know how to get it to use the 6th speaker?

You would have to set the settings to NEO:6 and make sure that in speaker setup you put 6.1 not 5.1 in speaker settings..

if its not encoded in 6.1.. i highly doubt there will be sound coming from it.. if possible.. get a 6.1 movie and try it out.. uhm.. the DVD i can think of on top of my head.. GLADIATOR... 6.1 DTS-ES..

You are lucky; if I use mine on a tower I get a locked up computer; OTOH if I use it on a laptop with the Creative stereo pcmcia card i get the blue screen of death.  Want mine so you have speakers that work?

6.1 is a cheat. They use Dolby Digital 5.1 and then mix the (still existant) ProLogic signal and send it to the "rear" speaker. If you never hear it, your settings are wrong.
