How to get apartment with bad rental history

I need help !!! I was renting an apartment for a few months and i was having trouble making payments due to my ex husband not having a job. I decided to leave him due to us fighting all the time so i just packed my stuff and left the apartment. Now the apartment complex is giving me a bad reference and no one will let me rent anymore.

Does anyone know how i can fix this issue?

one apartment place told me i can rent but i have to pay my 3000 to the apartment complex in order to rent even though bankruptcy took care of it.

What can I do i dont want to live with parents forever!

The landlords are looking for :

good credit

good job

good track record of saving money each month

You can rate yourself at any time using that scale.  You will have more luck if you rent a room in a private house. Apx. $350 a month. /

Look for places that do not ask for rental history or references.  Shouldn't be too hard.  Try craigslist.org
