Just came across an autographed football half white and other brown. the white potion has the signitures and are fading. i dont want to trace over them. besides having them re-autograph the ball, are there any other ways to overcome this so it doesnt lose value.

  1. Unfortunately there is no way to reverse the signs of aging. The only thing you can do is to prevent further damage to the signatures. There are special boxes that you can place sports memorabilia in to prevent further fading.

You can contact a local museum and ask the conservator for advice on storing your football. You can also contact the Football Hall of Fame and ask the conservator there for advice. They may have a way or technique of making the signatures brighter but that is definitely something left up to a professional.

If these are original signatures, you DO NOT want to add any ink or go over any of the signatures. That will definitely hurt the value. You need to leave it in it's condition and protect what is left. If this is a type of ball that has the signatures printed on it, it probably isn't worth much anyway.

    Good luck.

My father-in-law had an autographed baseball from the late 50's/early 60's from the entire Dodger and Cardinal team. It had Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Stan Musial on it. His little brothers played baseball in the street with it and LOST it!!! OUCH!
