I'm going into the 8th grade and have been playing lacrosse since i was in 6th. I play on an ultimate team. It's like a travel lacrosse team. I haven't been playing as long as the other girls have and they are much better. I plactice everyday but i don't seem to get any better. How do I improve on my catching, throughing, and cradling?

  1. Wall ball.

It's the best way to improve your catching and throwing on your own. Try doing 50 catches and throws with your right, and then try doing 50 with your left. If you have a friend or family member who plays, ask them to play catch with you! It's a great way to get out and have fun, while improving your skills!

Practice cradling by zig-zagging through cones (if you don't have cones, set a bunch of waterbottles up in a line about 3 feet apart.) Practice with both your left and your right hands.

If you're sitting inside and just watching TV, stand up, grab your stick and practice cradling (with a ball) and it becomes more of a natural movement the more you practice.

Another thing that helps you feel more comfortable with your stick is doing simple stick tricks. It really helps you learn how to feel where the ball is in your stick.

-Try tossing the ball up and catching it on the back side of your stick. From there you can make it more difficult and throw the ball up and spin your stick in a 360 and catch it in your pocket.

-Toss the ball up and try catching it on your side wall.( it's harder but  you'll get it.)

And you can play around with it. Make up your own tricks, you will build a better sense of ball control, and will help you with your stick skills.
