  4. To improve your overall fitness level, you'll want to exercise regularly. It doesn't even have to be exhausting, just jogging around a track or around your neighborhood or biking or something like that.

As for your serve, you'll need to practice. It can be difficult when you first start out, but it will get better the more you practice. The great thing about your serve is that it's the only time in volleyball where you control absolutely everything about your hit. You can't control how someone sets you or how fast a hit is coming at you, but with the serve you can control everything about it. This also helps because you don't really need anyone else to practice with, though it can be more fun if someone else is there. I would suggest practicing against a wall. Stand back and aim high. Don't worry about hitting it too hard at first, just make sure you make good solid contact with the ball. This will develop your hand-eye coordination. Once you get the hang of it, try swinging just a little bit harder. If you're still having problems, focus on your toss. If the toss is wild, you'll have a much harder time hitting it. Try tossing it up with both hands if you need more control. The most important this is to not give up and keep trying. Natural skill is nice, but effort will take you so much farther. Always practice hard and go hard for every ball. That kind of effort will always result in improved skill.

The key to jumping higher is (you guessed it!) practice. You need to explode up off the ground so you're focusing all your energy into the jump. Try turning over a crate or a wooden box (or a stack of books, anything!). Stand behind it and jump on top of it, then jump back. Keep doing this and gradually get faster and faster. Once you're comfortable doing it, you may want to make the box higher, to challenge yourself even more. Some people also suggest training with weights around your ankles so you feel lighter when you're actually playing.

As I mentioned above, they key is to practice hard and to not give up. If it's something you really like and you really want to do, make sure you put in as much effort as you can. Good luck!

  5. i can tell you how to get better. i'm in 8th grade and i'm only 5 foot 2, 95lbs. To get better at overhand serving, try arching your back and hit the ball as hard as you can with the palm of your hand. that's what really helped me. to jump higher for approaches, bend down with your arms down and pull the chain (as you might have been taught) that's what really helped me succeed in volleyball.

  6. well i am on the vollyball team and  originally i did not no how to serve over hand. what you can do is lift wieghts and do things to get your arm power stronger. then serve over hand against a wal with a VOLLEYBALL and do it for about 20+ minutes each day. You will get better in anywhere from 2 days-2 weeks

  7. first off, start running.  eh, about four times a week.  hit the gym, and work on your arms, and legs.  but the most important muscle in volleyball is your stomach.  do sit-ups everyday. push yourself to do more and more because with a strong core, you will hit the ball harder.

to jump higher,  heres what you need to do:

use a faster approach [the whip especially]

the faster your arms go down, the faster they come up and it makes you jump sooo much higher.

[i started jv this year and would swing for the varsity, when i improved on my hitting, i got bumped up to varsity and lettered. its very important.]

but most importantly, practice, practice, practice.
