  1. Check out my website Coach Ninja's FREE essential guide to playing exceptional tennis. From basic lessons to mastering the   topspin lob http://www.ninjaunion.com/

This is my website run by myself a retired tennis veteran, now coach. My website covers a lot of information that i believe is necessary to becoming a better tennis player. If you want to request an online lesson i can arrange it.

    Goodluck!

  2. Practice changing pace. Practice spins. Practice lobs and volleys. Have some one stand at the net while you at center baseline pull you wide so to practice hitting on the run. I should add that when you practice it must be a concentrated practice in order for you to grow. I would try to dedicate one portion of practice to lets say hitting cross court then the same down the line. Try to see how long you could hit it to a particular location, this builds control. Get some one to video tape your weakness and sit down and watch it. You could also put it on you tube and ask people to give their opinion on how to correct you weakness. Jack Kramer had an excellent book and so did Bill Tilden and all that information applies to today.

  3. all you do is rent a ball machine, that has an A B and C point setting, meaning that the machine can hit the ball to the forehand, and backhand sides of the court, like a real tennis play would do. It is also advised to make sure the ball machine has an ocelator, the thing that controls how high or low the ball goes.

So just set it so the ball is hit to A and C points and just do it again and again, until you get the hang of it.

  4. Let's first look at the classification of your rating as this will guide you as to where you need to go to improve.

3.5   Has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles.

4.0 Has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. Occasionally forces errors when serving and teamwork in doubles is evident. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.

    O.K. from here it's easy!

You need to improve your consistency/dependability as I can tell you this is the no1 area where people fall down at your level.  Start with drills where you have to hit to specific court areas and look to increase the number of shots in that area (i.e. more tha 5 out of 20 cross court.)

Also realise that in tennis -  depth is king!!

So the above drill can be midified to more than 5 out of 20 crosscourt  and past the service line - to work on depth!!

Variety is something you get by playing more - simple as that but try adapting the above drill again to help you!

Go for more than 5 out of 10 shots crosscourt deep and now you have to alternate side to side!!

You can use the same 3 variations of these drills for all shots (forehands/backhands/volleys etc) and BANG!! your game will explode with the extra confidence you will have.

Someone mentioned fitness and yes getting fitter will help significantly so start slowly and build your tennis fitness up.

Hope this helps you, with a bit of work in the above areas you can def get your rating to where you want it to go!

I know this stuff works - I use/used it myself!

  5. First, try doing some exercises. Look up some drills on the internet and do them. Work out on your arms and legs, and run a lot of miles a day to get better endurance. That's the first part.

Second, I would try to learn when to use what shot.

FOR EXAMPLE: When your opponent lands you a short ball, hit it flat for a winner. Don't hit topspin because it gives him more time to get to the ball. Hit topspin when you are back in the court and want to get the ball in, which pulls your opponent back off of the court so you can get back in position.

Third, I would try to get the latest gear. Check out:

    http://www.tenniswarehouse.com

for the latest SHOES, RACQUETS, BAGS, DAMPENERS, TOWELS, etc. Get the gear and clothes that some of the pros use so you can be prepared to play at all times! =)

Fourth, I would get out on court a lot with someone to hit with. Remember, always try to play with someone who's better than you because that gives you experience. Don't play with someone that's worse than you because you won't get any practice. Get some private lessons (about 2-3 a week at the max). Ask him how to improve on elements of your game.

Fifth, while your playing your tournament matches I would record some of the points. Take them to your private instructor and show him what happened in the match so he can actually see what happens (nerves, bad shot placement, etc.). Or you could just have him hit you shots that you struggle with and he can help you. Either one works.

All of that should work. The most important things would be the lessons and the fitness. Fitness comes first, so you can last longer in the matches and spend more time on the tennis court. Work hard.

Oh yeah, also don't forget to eat healthy. Get some energy bars to take to your matches and eat them. Eat lots of fruit like bananas and oranges. Make smoothies with fruits and milk and vitamins. It'll give you the energy for your fitness and the strength to keep going! Don't forget to not eat too much before a match. I would recommend eating pasta the night before you have a match because it has carbohydrates and that can prepare you for your match the next day with plenty of energy.

  6. Try looking at your towns website. My towns recreational department gives sports classes..even for adults. check if yours does?

  7. Make sure you have a lot of stamina. Even if you aren't that good at the actual playing part, if you can outlast your opponent, then you're in good shape. If you can work up to running 7 or 8 miles per day, you'll become a lot better. But don't forget to work on the actual playing part as well...

  8. I think you just need more exercise and teqnique, pls visit for how to be better player http://tennishoes-review.blogspot.com/
