How to get blackberry pearl ball to light up?

i saw a video on youtube that showed someone taking off the trackball and using a marker to color in the light. the ball then lit up as the color of the marker.

i have also heard of a blackberry software called pimp my pearl that you can download.

for the new blackberry pearl you cant light the ball up it is only for the old one
