How to get carpet adhesive off?

Im removing old carpet and rather have the tile that is underneath. How can i remove carpet adhesive. Im using goof off but the glue is so thick it is hard to remove. I have also use a thin skrapper....that didnt help much either... it just spreds the glue everywhere.

Any better product i can use to remove the glue?

  1. lighter fluid  like for cigarettes or BBQ fluid   pour some on and scrap it off.


  2. The glue that attached on layer of linoleum to another was so persistent that when I had new linoleum installed they added a new 1/4 inch baseboard.

    Acetone is the strongest chemical for dissolving glues.  But it is dangerous to use.  Most hardware stores should carry it.

  3. try some WD40 u might have to let it soak but it will help
