I got a casio exillim z-77 last christmas and now the lens isn't working. I didn't drop it, smash it, or do anything to break it. It just wont come out. Now, after I paid $10 to ship it to their repair place, they say I have to pay $130 to fix it! If i can't pay the money to fix it, I have to pay $10 to ship it back. I can't do either, I'm only 16 and my parents don't give me money. How do I get them to fix it?

  1. You said Christmas right?  Am I assuming correctly that you got the camera in December 2007?  Look at the warranty conditions at http://exilim.casio.com/current_owners/w...

They will deny your rights to warranty if:

    (1) The problem is caused by improper, rough or careless treatment.

    (2) The problem is caused by a fire or other natural calamity.

    (3) The problem is caused by improper repair or adjustment made by anyone other than a CASIO service center.

    (4) The problem is caused by battery leakage, bending of the unit, broken display or key.

    (5) The case or battery is damaged or worn.

    (6) Maintenance requested consists of repair or replacement of options, accessories, software, or consumables. (AC adapter, cable, battery, etc.)

    (7) The proof of purchase is not presented when requesting service.

    (8) The warranty period has expired.

Often times people will forget to send the proof of purchase and a company will deny the claim to warranty.  Did you send a proof of purchase?
