Question:

How to get daughter to stop pulling her bows out of her hair?

My one year old daughter has a lot of beautiful brown curls in her hair & it can be pretty much out of control...

I'd love to put little bows in it, but she refuses & pulls them out.

Any advice to get her to stop doing that?

  1. Try putting it in a pony tail.  If she gets to figure out that her hair will be out of her face and not bothering her, she might let you put bows and stuff in.  If not, dont fight it.  Its just not her thing.

  2. Pull them in really tight so it hurts we she tries to pull them out or punish her for pulling them out and reward her for not pulling them out

  3. Put socks on her hands....or, just let her make up her own mind about her hair.

  4. Just let it go. Baby heads are very sensitive. The bows are probably uncomfortable. My daughter has terrific curly hair. I just let it go wild. I don't think babies need to be primped and done up. It's not fun for them. When she gets older she might enjoy having her hair done.

  5. Your question made me laugh! I have a baby with not enough hair to put a bow in yet. i can't wait because I think they look so cute.

...now, because I want to put bows in her hair she will probably pull them out also. I think the distraction method will be the best.

If that doesn't work I will have to resort to wearing bows in my own hair around the house. You know, tell them they can't have'm and they will want'm!

Also, give attention to other little girls that have bows. Tell them how pretty they look!

If that fails, why force another person to have a style they don't want?

  6. I had this issue with my daughter when she was younger and here is what worked for me.  I got those little latex elastic bands - goody or scuncy makes them.  They are REALLY hard for little ones to pull out, pretty much impossible -  they stay in really well.  Start with just using those, you can do all sorts of styles with those elastics.  She'll stop trying to pull them out once she sees she is unable to.  Then you can add little clip on bows over the elastics.  It looks really cute.

Another idea is as soon as you put a bow or anything in her hair - immediately distract her with something.  A toy, anything that will definitely grab her attention.  Chances are she'll then forget she has the bow in a for a while at least.

    Good luck!!

  7. If she doesn't want bows in her hair, don't put bows in her hair.
