My son has had many ear infection and may eventually need tubes now that he is one. However, a dr. at the med clinic the other day said he has a lot of wax and dug it out with some metal thing. This week my husband had to take him to the med clinic again and the same thing was said about the massive amount of wax. How can we get it out? The baby q-tips are a problem because they don't reach back very far and they push and compact the ear wax. What can we do?

  1. There is a ear wax flush stuff at the local drug store that you can get and it comes with a suction bulb to get the wax out. Before you do this talk to the doctor. If it was that serious then he would have done something about it. It might not be as bad as you think!!!

  2. both my boys have terrible ear wax. my fiancee uses an ear candle, even on himself. they work great! and can even be used for infants... not after he GETS the tubes, tho! you could try it while the baby is sleeping as it's very soothing... and you're right not to use anything metal... wow, that could really hurt him, huh? good luck!

  3. Use a baby asperator with warm water and just continue to do daily until wax comes out.

  4. my son has the same thing. every once in awhile we take him to the hearing and speech clinic here and they can irrigate and suck it out. and they told me to use Sweet Oil (let soak over night with a peice of cotton) and a bulb syrringe. or swimmer's ear medicine. and they tell you like 300 times in one appointment to NEVER use q-tips. they make things worse.

  5. My aunt used an ear wax cone for my cousin. It's supposed to clean deep down and remove wax and impurities from the ear canal. There is debate as to how well it actually works, though and the concept is somewhat bizarre, but I guess you could try it and see if it works for your son.

  6. I have ear infections all the time and I'm in my 40's. I too had to have  tubes put in my ears to help them drain. I do couple of things to keep my ears clean. Sometimes I use peroxide, or sweet oil (helps soften up the wax). There are many over the counter products you can use to help soften the wax. Talk to your pharmacists to see what you can use or go to webmd.com and see if they have any options for you.

    Good Luck!

  7. I would go to Walgreen's or some drug store and ask a pharmacist. Good luck!
