Question:

How to get diffuse sound from surround speakers?

ok i dont have dipole or bipole speakers but i have direct speakers ,can anyone help me with trying to get a diffuse sound ,and can anyone give me a site on how to

  1. Well...

    The entire "diffuse" sound was from the ProLogic days.  This is where the same sound went to both back speakers and Dolby suggested sound engineers only put diffuse sounds like wind, rain, rumbles to the rear.  Dipole speakers, turning the speakers to bounce sound off the wall, etc. were all tricks to help 'hide' the speakers.

    But Dolby Digital 5.1 changed all that.  Now you WANT your attention drawn to the rear left or right to follow activity on your screen.  Sound engineers have a full-range channel to each rear speaker.  (And 7.1 systems give them 2 more speakers to play with).

    So the use if direct radiators is recommended, not diffuse.
