How to get direct tv dvr services for free????

Hi i was just wondering if i purchase a direct tv hd dvr from ebay,amazon ect do i have to pay an extra service fee through direct tv to use it. or does anyone know of a dvr (any manafacuter) which i can use with my direct tv and i dont have to pay a monthly service fee to use it.

Regardless of which receiver you use whether its a dvr or a tivo DTV charges $5.99 per month for the dvr service. Also just to let you know if you get the receiver from ebay or other sites or you get it from dtv or a retailer, it is still a leased receiver. If you d/c you will have to return it to DTV. Also when you activate a receiver on the account it adds a contract. The only way to avoid this is to outright buy the receiver from DTV and the cost is around $399.00

unless you buy a program for lifetime service (which has a one time fee) there is no way to get 'free' services for dtrs because this relies on the box to get new TV schedules weekly, so it is a monthly service
