How to get driver installed on ubuntu?

im trying to get an ati driver to install on my computer but it says "error vcdk missing" and i dont know what to do.i tried using envy but it is not supported by my operating system. right now i have a strange driver that only lets me get 800x600 pixels. anybody tell me what to do im lost T.T

  1. i only use linux when situation necessitates it, save yourself lots of frustration and time and forget about it

    oh yeah if you are using hard heron its gone a shitload of probs


  2. ? Envy has been made specifically for debian based Operating systems...

    You can try installing the driver from System>Administration>Hardware Drivers.

    For resolution, you can edit your xorg.conf (its a system text file) as described here:

    First resolution in "modes" is the reso that will be used for display.
