In 50 free i have a 25

but i want to get faster

can anyone help

  1. The only way that you are going to get faster is to practice. I'm faster in Brest stroke only becuase I kept and practiceing


  2. 1. Have a good start

      You don't want to have a deep dive up you want a shallow dive. that cuts time off

    2. By doing "endurance" swimming meaning that you swim more laps this helps your breathing, and muscles

    3. good flip turns, if you can do a one handed pull out.

    4. Swim with flippers on, that'll improve your kick but you get foot cramps like you wouldn't believe

  3. I'm a 50 freestyle specialist. First off - work breathing.

    breathe at most 2 times during your race. (one about 6 yards before your first turn, and another half way coming back). Even if you CAN breathe 2 or less, that doesn't necessarily mean it's faster. If your not conditioned well enough then your body will just break down faster. Do breathing sets. If your coach can't give you any ideas, just take normal sets and force yourself to breathe X amount of times per length

    i.e. your swimming 100's, try 4 breath's first lap, 3 second lap, 2 breathes third lap, 1 breath fourth. Any combination will work as long as you feel like your pushing yourself.

    Work on your start reaction time and start in general. From time to buzzer to time when my feet leave the block is .63 seconds (I found out thanks to cool block covers).

    Work flip turn - Remember, no matter how fast it is, it can always be better, tighter, straighter, etc.

    Find where your best combination of stroke speed and stroke efficiency is. Think of it like a multiplication chart. If your arms are moving at 10, but your efficiency is a 2, your getting 20 out of it. But if you take your stroke speed down to 7 and focus more energy of efficiency and get the arbitrary number of lets say, 4, that's 28 then. Try and find which fits you.

    I've seen people look like roadrunner the cartoon and get beat by someone else who took 20 strokes the entire race.

    Work on technique while in the pool, make sure your getting the most out of your stroke.

    Finally, because your at the prime age of 14, make sure you lift weights regularly (3-4 times a week). Have a coach or trainer with you to make sure you do the exercises correctly. Remember, its more important to do it right than to swing the weights around and use heavier weights.

    Work on other exercises like pull ups, swim bench, and work your core.

    they can always be tighter, better and faster.

  5. well for one, kick harder and two work harder on you have to do better streamlines and better flip turns!!!  that's always what I do!!! p.s kick until you fell like your legs are about to fall off, my coach says that your legs have to be 3 times faster then your arms because your hip is the center of mass and it's like dragging 100 lbs if you don't kick, :)
