  1. What about taking a train to the Netherlands? Hamburg - The Hague goes from 39 euros; standard price is around 85, depending on the time and date you travel.

Check out at www.bahn.de . The train takes about 6 hours.

  2. Train from Hamburg to Osnabrück = 1.5 hours (fast train)

change over in Osnabrück to Amsterdam with step over to The Hague = 3 hours

all of the information you'll find at www.bahn.de

Osnabrück - Hengelo - Amersfoort - Utrecht - The Hague

since there are no ICE trains in NL the ICE goes only from Hamburg to Osnabrück and that takes 1.5 hours.

The connection train to The Netherlands goes via Bad Bentheim and will take you to Amersfoort where you need to step over to the train to The Hague. Osnabrück to The Hague is 3 hours 20 Minutes.

  3. Hey Eva,

Alwin is right take the train, but the fare is a little bit higher as he mentioned if you use ICE at a normal time only if you start very very early in the morning fare is 86  normal time fare is 115 EUR, The train needs about 6h. If you use IC fare is 86, The train needs about  8h.

The most Lufthansa offers a flight to Amsterdam that's about 50 miles to the Hague. The time you 'll need to Amsterdam is about 1h15 but you have to be in Fuhlsbüttel 1h before start.

VLM offers a flight to Rotterdam but the prices I found were between 167 and 450 EUR. Time also about 1:15. But Rotterdam is very much closer to the Hague.

All over I believe train is best. Then you will arrive in the centre of the Hague. Go to Hauptbahnhof possibly you 'll get a special fare.

Last tip if you will look for the Hague --- it is spelled in German like in Dutch "den Haag".

Have you visited Hamburg-Bergedorf ? There you will find the only castle on the territory of Hamburg, an old church and a nice historic house ( the seat of the Hamburgian governour, when the Hamburg  and Lübeck conquered Bergedorf) To day it is a restaurant.

Hope you enjoyed Hamburg and we shall see you here again.

    Greetings

    Heinz

ps: In the Netherlands you must eat "Matjes". The best  come in May.

  4. There are flights into Amsterdam with KLM and Lufthansa, and flights into Rotterdam with VLM Airlines. Both airports are close to The Hague.
