Hi all,

I'm looking to travel from Ottawa to Regina (and back) for cheap, as I'm a penniless student. If anyone knows of any special bus passes, or major discounts, or just has some good advice, it would be much appreciated!

  1. hitch hike.  it costs nothing.   just stick out your thumb and hope for the best.

  2. West jet has great seat sales- you just have to keep checking their website and be a little flexible with your dates of travel. A seat sale can be $746.90 ( everything included and return) and lower if you watch carefully.

I would not be afraid to take the Greyhound bus I have gone 3000 km and more on them, always found them relatively safe. Tragic incident that happened though. It is $469.80 plus taxes return to take the bus- with student discount of %10 if you have a Student ID. The trick to getting it even cheaper is to buy in advance. I went Winnipeg to Toronto for under $200 because I bought my ticket in advance- it is a discount of up to 55%. You need to call greyhound for this info 1-800-661-8747- not all discounts are on the website.

  3. Voyageur/Greyhound bus systems.

Alternately, take Via Rail to Melville, SK, then catch a bus to Regina.

  4. Greyhound gives a student discount. Be careful to not get decapitated.
