I am traveling to France in June and have never been to Europe before and dont speak French. I need to get from the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to the Lyon- Saint Exupery airport. I've been trying to find the easiest/cheapest way of getting there. I will be getting a Eurail pass but there doesnt seem to be a train that I can take straight from CDG to LYS. Please help! :)

  1. The TGV train goes to both airports....

You will probably have to go first to the center of Paris, and then to Lyon  and then on to Saint Exupery.

Check out the french railway company:

SNCF (but not having a direct train you cannot do so thru internet, you'll have to contact them directly.)

  2. Hey! Ok, forget about planes if you really want something cheap. Actually, there are trains going from the airport to Lyon. But there are not easy to find from the website esp. if you don't speak French.

In Lyon, you'll be arriving at the railroad station. When you get out off it, you'll see a big square. Right in front of you the buses going to the airport will be passing by.

About prices, it really depends on your dates, times and so on. I'll say you should consider having to spend something like 50 euros. Then, the one way ticket to the airport should be around 10 euros (I can't recall the accurate price though).

The train is very fast, it will take only about 3 hours. Some 20 - 30 extra minutes will be necessary by bus.

If you need more details, just ask :)

  3. Nothing is easier than taking a train from CDG airport to Lyon Saint-Exupery !

Both airports are connected to the TGV (high speed trains) network and have a station inside (or very close to)the passengers' terminal !

You will travel from point A to point B  (514 Kilometers=320 miles) in about 2 hours and 10mn !

Take care about the name of the train stations in Lyon !

They are 3 different stations in Lyon (Saint-Exupery and Part- Dieu are the 2 airports names and the 3rd is called Perrache wich is downtown !)

Just book you train ticket on the french railroad web site here :

    http://www.sncf.com/

    and GO !
