  1. train to ipswich & a bus from there

was special busses for the last show

  2. Whenever there is something big like an airshow Ipswich has extra special public transport organised, so don't worry.

The details may not be finalised yet which is why Translink isn't helpful.

Catch the train to Ipswich railway station, which is beside the transit centre in the centre of Ipswich.  You will be able to get a bus directly to the Amberley air base from there I'm sure.

The train ride takes about 45 minutes and the bus ride approximately fifteen, depending on the route they take and the traffic.

Ipswich city info centre may have some more information closer to the date, or try logging on to the Ipswich City Council website, they are usually very involved in anything that promotes the city.

Enjoy yourselves, my home is in the flight path of the RAAF planes and it's spectacular to see them fly over head during their various exercises.
