I'm currently using a Fostex MR 8, and a Line 6 Pod. I've heard decent tones come out of an Mr 8 before, I'm just not able to achieve them myself. I'm not looking for amazing studio quality. Just something more full and with some presence.

  1. make sure your audio isnt clipping, when your recording the light should never turn red that is near the input, and when your listening it can also clip if the guitar sound is too high on the mixer...ive never used that particular studio, but you may want to look through the effects and stuff to and see if there is something particularly for the guitar that you can assign to the input and test them out.....if a video came with it, watch it, or read the manual...play with the thing until it becomes second nature and your production skills improve........not sure if this helped but I thought I would try...if you have any other guitar amps i suggest you try them and then you know its not the line 6 that needs adjusting...I also suggest getting your recordings on the net on a site like soundclick, and posting a link to them on the fostex forum page telling them what you are using, they will be used to production so they will hear what needs to be adjusted in your recordings http://www.fostexusa.com/mercuryboard/
