I found a leopard gecko outside in MN. someone obviously let him go. he is an adult his color is all in. but he is very small and has a very skinny tail, he ate three crickets right away but will not drink . The pet store said not to touch him for 6 months, is there any thing i can do to get him to drink?

  1. Spray it. Alot of lizards won't drink out of a water dish, but prefer droplets of water from misting. And I really have no idea why the pet store said not to touch it for 6 months. That makes absolutely no sense. But alot of things pet store employees say are incorrect.

  2. Set your hair on fire and dance around his cage naked.

Come on. It'll drink when it's thirsty. If you're really concerned, take it to a vet.

  3. Geckos are not swimmers.  Offer the reptile water in a shallow bowl/lid, or stuff a clean paper towel into a bowl, and barely cover it with water so the lizard can stand on it to drink without fear of drowning.

I'll post a few links below so you can find out how to take care of the reptile.

Good luck with the lil guy, and I hope this has been helpful.

  4. READ MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE LEOPARD GECKO

omg report the 1st persons answer. i have a leopard gecko 2. hes all most 3 years old. i just put water in a bowl, make it very shallow. maybe like 1/2 and inch. and if his tail is skinny, THAT IS VERY BAD. good u fed him 3 crickets. do not feed him the next day. if u want feed him the day after.  u will make him blow up if u feed him anymore. ok dont watch him every second. turn the lights off and leave him with the water. and if he wont drink it after that give him tiny peaces of water melon.

~MAKE WATER ROOM TEMP, NOT COOL NOT COLD

~btw leopard gecko is a great pet they love 2 b held. but give him some time 2 adjust 2 his new home if u keep him

~good luck and take good care of him. btw my gecko's name is ben, hes my little benny boy

  5. Get him a shallow dish with water and change it daily. I hope you have a proper set up for him..

If he is super skinny add waxworms to his diet. They are very high in calorie..just make sure its not all you feed him as they get to be addicting to the leos. Also make sure you are gutloading the crickets otherwise they have no nutritional value. If you have any more questions e-mail me...I love leos!!!

  6. Just make sure that it has plenty of cool clean water to drink but other

than that you really can't force it to drink.

  7. he will drink in his own time, probably at night, leave him be, you'll probably walk in to find him on the water bowl. dont worry, if he was that skinny he obviously drinks fine or he would hav died before now.

  8. NO !! NEVER FORCE AN ANIMAL TO EAT !!

IT WILL COMPLETELY CHANGE HIS EATING ABILITY !! STOPPPPPPP

just leave water out for him/her, it will drink on its own, study prooves that forcing animals to eat will actually change its eating ability and will starve itself to death!

  9. Haven't you ever seen a Geico commercial, supply it with a water fountain, lol.

  10. throw him in the pool

  11. Bring him to the bar.  lol

If it is eating crickets and has wet food and water available leave it alone it is getting some fluid through it's food.

  12. Put a samll dish of water in the cage and he will do the rest. Also give it some fresh chopped veges. Try not to give it iceburg lettuce though because it will be his favorite and he might not eat anything else.
