  1. skate, skate, skate...

    ...

    ... and skate some more...

  2. Cardio training (bike / run / rollerblade) and proper nutrition high in complex carbohydrates (whole wheat bread & pasta / fruit / veg).

The reason bikes do not do a good a job as running is that the seat of the bike supports 1/2 of your body weight. When running you have to carry your entire body weight.

  3. Running.  Recumbent bikes are good too because they build leg strength in addition to cardio, but what you really need to build endurance is cardio and for some reason recumbent bikes don't do half as much for cardio as running does.  I know because i used to ride a recumbent bike at least four times a week and it barely did anything then i started running and i got instantly better.

  4. Well the only ways to really work the muscles needed for hockey to skate but any kind of sport that as you panting for breath will help your lung capacity
